　　20世纪初，瑞典山区一个小业主的儿子与农场主女儿相爱，遭到女方和周遭环境的极力反对，青年克服重重困难，终于赢得美人归。影片以较为轻松的口吻调侃了有产阶级的怯懦和虚伪，与之成鲜明对比的是，代表生命和活力的小业主后代呈现出的果敢、爽朗、有魄力，所以影片不仅旨在赞扬美好爱情战胜世俗偏见的传统话题，更是对当时严重社会沟壑的裂痕提出质疑和反抗。影片画面清新干净，代表了北欧电影在默片时代不同的走向风格。
